Capitalism : A Love Story
Capitalism: A Love Story.
Yesterday I saw the Michael Moore movie Capitalism: A Love Story. The movie cleared up everything I wondered about how the economy got so bad. If you wonder why too, I very much recommend you see it. Basically Michael Moores main point in this movie was that we need to move away from the capitalistic style of government and get back to a democracy. The buzz-words that capitalism is based around nowadays is “Greed” and “Immorality”.
Greed, the one word that defines so many corporations. To list a few, Bank of America, Wal-mart, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, Countrywide, and Fannie Mae, these corporation have become corrupt with power. The United States Congress was bullied by the head of the fed to pass a 700 billion dollar bailout plan that was constructed up over night, as a plan to make the rich richer. This was the ultimate plan for these large businesses because it allowed them to get stronger and to control the nations wealth. But 700 billion dollars is obviously not enough money for assorted companies that have no debt, because god forbid they don’t give their CEO’s millions of dollar bonus’s for Christmas.
Michael Moore interviewed a female widow who’s husband just died of cancer, she explained to him this left her in horrible debt, but the worst part about it was they’re insurance company took a random life insurance policy out on him before he died, ( named the “ Dead Peasant” policy for short) hoping he would die so they could reap tax dollars from the public off of his death and put it toward the company. They made over 5 million dollars over his life.
The 700 billion dollar bailout plan that was passed, was really a master plan to jump start the stock market and used as a derivative ( Gambling Equation) to feed the wealthy once again.
Immorality, the essence of greed. A word that describes one man’s quest for money and cheating the system, Judge Mark Ciavarella of the juvenile courts in Pennsylvania was disbarred for a scandal involving putting innocent kids that did “dumb things” behind bars in juvenile detention centers so he can get tax payers dollars to go to the court, to spend on him self. One of these “dumb things “ were smoking pot at a party and going to juvenile detention for 13 months. No one is saying its not bad to smoke pot, but 13 months behind bars is harsh.
There are many good messages to this movie and who ever reads this should look into seeing the movie for a better understanding of the government corruption and the true definition of Capitalism.
